Did Fox News's Shepard Smith just mistranslate "Gambatte kudaasai"?

Yesterday evening (Friday, March 18, 2011) Shepard Smith translated "Gambatte kudasai" as "Be strong". Now to my anime, computer Japanese lessons, and small Japanese to English language dictionary addled brain, "Gambatte kudasai" should be translated "Do your best, please", a small but significant difference. So, did Shepard Smith get it wrrrong?

Retargeting?

ALright, so I was all gung-ho about finding writings that shallowly attack Fox News and calling them out on it, but Glenn Beck said some things recently that I feel like addressing.

Glenn Beck makes a big deal out of "The Story of Stuff", and then proceeds to speak sympatheticly about "stuff". This link has comments that echo my concerns: http://www.glennbeck.com/2011/01/26/glenns-state-of-the-individual/

Just a little while ago, Glenn just double coumted the cost of inflation in the price of a shirt that was already out of myrice range.

also Glenn doesn't appear to relize that most people aren't salaried workers.

So Glenn Beck shows a tree ring crosssection, looks at the rings and concludes that shorter distances between rings means that the tree is going through tough times. However, another explanation is that as the tree gets older, the more area in a ring has to be traversed.
